Following a successful few years of delivering Rock Bottom we have raised enough money to remove some of the tired old play equipment in the playing fields and invest in exciting new apparatus.
We will be removing the rotten trim trail and installing a multi tower activity centre which will provide a wide variety of swinging, climbing, crawling, scrambling and role play aimed at children between the ages of 6 and 11yrs. We will also be removing all of the swing sets and installing a new 4 double bay set with a variety of swings for the children to enjoy. All the new equipment will be engineered timber mounted on above ground metal footings. By lifting all the timbers out of the ground, we are assured that they will last 20+ years rather than the current 2 to 3 years! We have also just installed two new concrete bins that cannot be burnt as unfortunately the previous ones were vandalised. We were able to replace the bins, which although much more expensive are hardier and this was thanks to funds raised by the local community and WI along with some recompense sorted by the Thames Valley Police. The other play equipment - mainly the much-used Zip Wire and Swingo - will be repaired as part of the new installation project. The installation of the new equipment will start on November 4th 2024, and should be completed by the 1st December 2024. We very much look forward to unveiling the new equipment and most importantly hope the children enjoying using it. Special thanks to Marlow Bottom Parish Council, Black and White Security, Burford School and the wonderful community for supporting our fundraising events Rock Bottom and the Fireworks Display. Apologies in the delay in the news from RB 2024 - the summer was a whirlwind, but I'm sure you can agree we set the summer off in style!
2024 was Rock Bottoms 10th Anniversary Year and it didn't fail to disappoint. The rain stayed away, the sun came out to play and we're pretty sure we saw everyone singing along at some point in the day - even if you didn't want to admit you knew the words to "Everlasting Love" - you do now! We'd love to thank all our food vendors, Rebellion Brewery and everyone who attended for making it a safe and successful event and especially those who came to help clear up the playing fields afterwards. |
